Distressing Options Inspired by treasures of the past, Mouser Cabinetry features a beautiful selection of finishing and distressing options. To capture the beauty and essence of antique cabinetry, Mouser offers these distressing options: Weathered Distressing, Heirloom Distressing, Rustic Distressing, and Cobblestone Distressing. If these four packages do not meet your wishes, Mouser also offers A-la-Carte distressing.

Weathered Distressing is our most aggressive distressing package and is intended to simulate the effects on wood furniture that has been subjected to many years of wear, tear, and changing atmospheric conditions. Heirloom Distressing combines physical and finish distressing to give your cabinetry the look of precious heirlooms that have been handed down from generation to generation.

Heirloom Distressing uses various techniques to simulate the wood aging process. Add Heirloom Distressing to any stain or solid color and create a timeless masterpiece.

Rustic Distressing is a distressing technique intended to make your cabinetry look like it was made many years ago and has withstood the elements of time. Rustic Distressing can be added to any of Mouser’s wood species or finishes to give your cabinetry a look reminiscent of by-gone days.

Glaze Choice is the process by which a colored glaze material is sprayed over the cabinetry and then hand rubbed to remove part of the glaze leaving buildup in the corners of the door panel, the deep areas of the edge profiles and the open wood grain. The result is an Old World type finish. To achieve this look, some areas of the wood will be wiped fairly clean leaving only a slight haze over the part, while the corners of the cabinet, door, frame, moulding, panel and edge treatment will have a slight buildup of the glaze material. The beauty of the glazing process is the variation achieved from the buildup of the glaze in various areas of the cabinet.

Cobblestone Distressing is a more subtle distressing option which uses sanded corner wear and rock distressing techniques to make your cabinetry appear slightly aged. Choose Cobblestone Distressing to give your cabinetry a well-worn appearance.

Glacier Elect is the process in which a solid color finish is striated with a glaze material to produce a “brush stroke” finish effect. With dozens of solid color options and 4 distinct glaze color options, the possible combinations are limitless.
